Barnum Rock Closure Order 05-114
On January 25, 2008, Josh Taiz, the district wildlife biologist of the Santa Catalina
Ranger District photocopied the closure order for Barnam Rock for me (see below).
This closure is in effect for 2008.
The net of the closure order is that:
- Barnum Rock Rock is closed to climbing from February 1st through August 31th.
- Barnum Rock is considered a biologically sensitive area and is closed for the purpose of protecting Peregrine Falcon and Mexican Spotted Owl habitat.
- The penalty for climbing on Barnum Rock during the closure is at most $500 or imprisonment for
not more than six months, or both.
Note that this closure order has been in effect since April 4th, 1995.
